The course taught by award-winning American photographer, Richard Tuschman, entitled Poetic Storytelling is an intensive seven-day workshop designed to help participants create increasingly meaningful, engaging and evocative photographs.

In this context, throughout the image creation process (from initial inspiration to final sequence, from post production to printing) students will be provided with the necessary tools to make targeted and effective photographic choices.

During the first day of the workshop, Richard will present in detail his projects, his history and his working methods.

Students will be asked to bring a small portfolio of images in order to introduce themselves and begin thus  a creative and sharing relationship that will go on throughout the week.

Each of the participants is to select a set of "artistic stimuli" that, when put together, will represent an archive of inspiration for all.

During the first class, a small assignment will be given that will serve to focus on the creative objective of the workshop: each student will produce a series of 3-5 photographs consistent with each person's personal language; only one (the best) will be printed thanks to our sponsor Fuori gamut - Fine Art Printing Workshop and displayed at the event's closing exhibition.

After the evening, students will be given a printed photograph as a tangible result of the workshop.

For the first few days of the week, the morning will be a time for technical demonstrations, discussions, and critiques, while the afternoon will be  generally reserved for shooting and editing. Topics covered will include subject choice, composition, lighting and post-production. Old and new masters will be examined to study their techniques and find inspiration. How to start a project, find an intuitive way to cultivate one's creative voice, and successful strategies for navigating the world of competitions, exhibitions and galleries will be discussed.
